A Discovery Flight at TWO2FLY AVIATION is a genuine flight lesson out of Pearland Regional Airport (KLVJ), not a sightseeing ride. Once you are level and clear of the field, the instructor hands you the controls — you fly the airplane, with a certificated flight instructor beside you and a second set of controls the whole time. It costs $200 an hour in a Cessna 150L with the instructor and fuel included, it goes in your logbook toward a certificate, and there is nothing to commit to afterwards.

Your first takeoff

On a screen it’s a scroll.
In the left seat it’s a throttle.

  1. Hold short Your instructor runs the checklist out loud. Nothing is skipped.
  2. Throttle Throttle forward — the runway blurs.
  3. 55 knots Around 55 knots, you pull back. Gently. That’s all it takes.
  4. Liftoff The ground lets go of you.
  5. 500 feet Most people are grinning before 500 feet. You’ll see.

What to expect

Your Discovery Flight, step by step

  1. Before you fly

    You meet your instructor at the field and walk the airplane with them — the same preflight inspection every pilot does before every flight, explained as you go. They will cover what the flight will look like, what the controls do, and what you will be doing with your hands. Nothing is a surprise, and no question is a beginner question.

  2. In the air

    You will be flying the airplane. Once you are away from the field the instructor hands over, and you make the turns, hold the heading and feel what the controls actually do. They are in the right seat with a full second set of controls the entire time, so you can push as far as you like and stop whenever you want.

  3. Back on the ramp

    The flight goes in a logbook, and it counts toward the certificate if you decide to keep going. Then you sit down with your instructor and talk straight about what training would look like for you — the pathway, the pace, the cost. If the answer is not yet, that is a completely acceptable answer, and nobody will chase you.

A Discovery Flight is designed to help you experience the aircraft, the instructor, and the training environment before committing to a larger plan. If you decide flying is for you, it's also how you judge us — the airplane, the instructor, and whether our approach fits how you want to learn.

Do I need any previous experience to start?
No. Every student here starts with no flight experience and no aviation background — that is what the first lesson is for. Your instructor flies with you from the very first hour, and nothing is assumed.
What is a Discovery Flight?
It is a real flight lesson, not a sightseeing ride: you take the controls with a certificated flight instructor beside you, and the time goes in your logbook toward a certificate. At TWO2FLY AVIATION it is $200 an hour in a Cessna 150L, with the instructor and fuel included. There is nothing to commit to afterwards.
Is it safe?
Yes — and the reason is that nothing about a training flight is left to chance. The airplanes are older airframes that are well maintained, with very little downtime; your instructor sits at a full second set of controls and can take the airplane at any moment; and if the weather is not right for the lesson, the lesson moves. Nobody here flies a student into conditions they should not be in.
How do I get started?

Can friends or family come and watch?
Yes — bring them. They can watch the preflight and see you off, and ramp access rules mean an instructor will let you know where they can and cannot stand on the day. Tell us in advance so we can plan for it.
